On Saturday 18th November 2017, the people of Anambra State elected their 7th democratically elected governor. The Incumbent Governor, Willie Obiano, who contested under the platform of All Progressive Grand Alliance,APGA, retained his seat by winning in all the 21 Local Government Areas of the State. He amassed a total of 234,071 votes defeating Tony Nwoye of the All Progressives Congress,APC,  and Oseloka Obaze of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who are his close contenders.

Below is the breakdown of results  for the three Governorship candidates with the highest number of votes in the poll.

  • Willie Obiano, APGA – 234,071
  • Tony Nwoye, APC    –   98,752
  • Oseloka Obaze, PDP –  70,293

Enough is Enough Nigeria in partnership with ChannelsTV, Policy, Legal & Advocacy Center (PLAC), and National Democratic Institute (NDI) hosted Anambra Gubernatorial Debate on November 11th, 2017. Over a 2 hour period, 5 candidates- Willie Obiano of All Progressives Grand Alliance, Tony Nwoye of All Progressives Congress, Oseloka Obaze of Peoples Democratic Party, Osita Chidoka of United Progressive Party and Godwin Ezemo of Progressive Peoples Alliance were engaged on the policies they intend to implement if elected as the Governor. The questions were based on Security, Education, Employment and Infrastructural development of Anambra State.
