2015 Elections Begin!

INEC has authorised political parties to begin the primary elections that will help choose their candidates. This officially marks the beginning of next year’s general elections.According to the timetable, campaigns for Presidential and National Assembly elections will commence on 16th November 2014, while campaigns for Governorship and State House of Assembly elections will start from 30th November, 2014.

2Face flags off voters education

Last Tuesday, our partners at the 2Face Peace Foundation unveiled their campaign tagged ‘Vote Not Fight’. The colourful Lagos event aimed at encouraging youth to commit to shun violence and embrace peace in the coming elections.

WEP on Sunday

Our weekly Weekend Education Programme (WEP) holds this Sunday from 2 – 4PM. This week, we’ll be looking at how election tribunals have aided or complicated our democracy. Please participate by following @EiEnigeria on Twitter. Make it a date!

WS calls for entries

The Wole Soyinka Awards for Investigative Journalism is calling for entries into this year’s competition. It’s open to all Nigerian professional reporters who have produced or published a story targeted at or received by a Nigerian audience.Categories and other conditions are available on www.wscij.org.
Submissions deadline: October 24th.

PIN Digital jobs launch

If you are e-savvy and in need of a job you may want to sign up at pinigeria.org/digitaljobs.This special service connects Nigerian youths with ICT-enabled opportunities. It entails provision of Hands-on training, long term mentorship, support and guidance. The project launched yesterday in Lagos.

Technology conference holds in Lagos

Technology is coming to the grassroots at the 2nd Annual BrowseDotCom ‘Grassroot’ Conference.Holding tomorrow Saturday, intending participants are urged to pre-register at www.browsedotcom.com. Speakers at the event include Marek Zmyslowski (Jovago), Emeka Afigbo (Google), Shina Oyetosho (Microsoft) and EiE Board Member, ‘Gbenga Sesan (PINigeria).
Venue: Bola Ahmed Tinubu Multi-Purpose Hall, Ajegunle-Apapa.
