New Media, Citizens and Governance (NMCG) Conference
In 2012, we co-hosted the “New Media & Governance” Conference to showcase how technology was improving governance and explored areas of collaboration. It was the first conference of its kind on the continent with representatives from government, the private and public sectors. Bill Gates sent a recorded message. In 2016, the conference was modified to include ‘citizens’ as the bridge between media & governance outcomes. BudgIT and Paradigm Initiative (PI) became partners. It is now a biannual conference. The 2016 theme was “Rights & Responsibilities” and the 2018 theme was “Government, New Media & Civic Spaces”.

EiE has led the governance space at #SMWLagos. We have hosted various lectures, panels & workshops to discuss citizens, governance and technology. Speakers have included: Mahmood Yakubu, INEC Chairman; Nasir El-Rufai, Executive Governor, Kaduna and Omobola Johnson, Former Minister of Communication Technology.
