AFFORDABLE AIR TRANSPORTATION FOR NIGERIANS
A young Nigerian entrepreneur in his 30s, Babawande Afolabi, recently launched Green Africa Airways, a Nigerian start-up carrier. The company took delivery of the new airplanes in Lagos and would begin affordable air transportation to Abuja, Akure, Enugu Ilorin and Owerri. They aim to reduce the cost of air travel in Nigeria.
COMPLETED REFINERY IN DELTA STATE
Nigerian businessman, Momoh Jimah Oyarekhua, has completed a 10,000 bpsd refinery in Kwale, Delta State, on Thursday, May 20th. The refinery’s construction began in 2017 would contribute to saving Nigeria funds on imported fuel.
WARRI-ITAKPE FREIGHT SERVICES COMPLETED
The Warri-Itakpe freight services project previously ignored for 33 years has recently been completed. The freight service, through 12 stations, links Warri in Delta State, through Edo State, to Ajaokuta in Kogi State. This is a boost to Nigeria’s railway infrastructure.
BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS, NEUTRALIZED IN RANN, BORNO STATE
On Friday, May 28th, troops of the Nigerian Army successfully neutralized ten Boko Haram terrorists in Rann, Borno State. They also destroyed a Boko Haram gun truck & recovered multiple weapons including one anti aircraft gun, two machine guns & eight AK-47 rifles.
NEWLY BUILT 45,000 TON CASSAVA PROCESSING PLANT IN RIVERS STATE
A newly built 45,000 ton cassava processing plant to produce 12,500 tons of flour per annum has been inaugurated in Rivers State. The project that was funded by Shell and the Rivers State government will engage 3,000 farmers. With this development, Nigeria will reduce its N100bn expense on importing starch.

FIRST SUCCESSFUL LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY IN THE NAF
On Friday, May 28th, a surgical team led by Sqn Ldr Ismail Tsauni of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Hospital, Abuja successfully carried out a laparoscopic surgery on a 54 year old patient who had gallbladder stones.
ABU STUDENTS WIN GLOBAL CLOUD AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE COMPETITION
3 Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) students – Dahir Muhammad, Mustafa Jimoh and Khalifa Muhammad – won the Global Cloud and Artificial Intelligence Competition. They defeated 150,000 students drawn from 2,000 universities in 82 countries.
12,000 FARMERS TO BENEFIT FROM CBN RICE PYRAMID PROGRAMME IN EKITI STATE
On Tuesday, May 18th, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) unveiled 278,000 metric tonnes of rice pyramids in Ekiti as it kicked-off the Rice Pyramid Programme in Ekiti State. This is a spinoff of the N700bn Anchor Borrowers Programme.
RESCUED CITIZENS IN NIGER STATE
A number of bandits were chased away from their camp in Alawa forest of Shiroro Local Government after the Nigerian Army led by Maj. Gen. Ali Keffi conducted an operation on Wednesday, May 19th. Some citizens previously captured by the bandits were rescued during the operation.
