Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, the Director-General of Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), has been appointed by the World Health Organisation (WHO), as the Assistant Director-General for Health Emergency Intelligence, effective November 1, 2021. “He will lead the work on strengthening pandemic and epidemic intelligence globally, including heading the WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence in Berlin,” according to Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, WHO. He has served Nigeria well and we wish him great success as he joins the fight against COVID-19 on the global stage.
