Harmonised by the upper and lower chambers of the National Assembly in 2021 and signed on January 6, the Mental Health Act will replace the Lunacy Act of 1958, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s efforts to improve support for psychosocial well-being. The Act also supports the establishment of a Department of Mental Health Services in the Federal Ministry of Health, as well as a Mental Health Fund.
We look forward to the implementation of this Law!
