On August 6, 2021, Latifat Tjani won the first gold medal for Nigeria at the ongoing Paralympics in Tokyo. She won the gold medal in the women’s 45kg powerlifting after she defeated China’s Zhe Cui to lift 107kg. Nigeria is competing at the Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, from August 24 to September 5, 2021.
