October 11th marks the International Day of the Girl Child.
As we recognise the efforts of global and local organisations in defending the rights of the girl child, we must also continue to speak up in cases where imbalance and varied forms of abuse are still prevalent. We all must do what we can to reengineer our societies to treat the girl child as a child—nothing more, nothing less.
In commemoration of this day, let’s keep demanding the release of the remaining #ChibokGirls and others in captivity, across the globe.
Today, let’s celebrate the girl child and the possibilities that her bright future offers to a world in need of compassion and solutions.
