27-year-old Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali becomes the first Super Eagles goalkeeper to keep four consecutive clean sheets in a major football tournament in 44 years, surpassing Alloy Agu’s feat of three games in a row in 1990. He achieved this feat in Nigeria’s 1-0 win against Angola in the African Nations Cup tournament which was held in Cote D’ivoire between the 13th of January and the 11th of February , 2024.
Best Ogedegbe was the last goalkeeper to keep four consecutive clean sheets in a tournament, and this was in the year 1980 when the team – which used to be known as the Green Eagles, won their first continental title.
Kudos, Shot Stopper Nwabali !
