2021 – Speak Up Louder!

2020 has come and gone but not without its footprints larger than years before it. It was a roller coaster year as we navigated various tides.

We started the year with #CancelSocialMediaBill, campaigning against bills to regulate social media and stifle freedom of expression by the National Assembly. We had not laid this to rest when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in Nigeria and changed our lives.

In the midst of the pandemic, the Sexual and Gender-based violence epidemic broke out in the country. As you always have, you spoke up against it leading the Nigerian Governors Forum to declare a state of emergency on sexual and gender-based violence in the country.

The country stood still in October when young Nigerians decided to Sọ̀rọ̀ Sókè and demand #EndSARS. Their call to end police brutality in Nigeria rekindled hope in every Nigerian and gained recognition across the world.

Some of us gave their lives for this cause and as we continue on the journey to #NigeriaAt100 this year, we ask you to honour their sacrifice by speaking up louder!

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. INEC will commence Continuous Voter’s Registration (CVR) in the first quarter of this year. Remember, you can only ‘Sọ̀rọ̀ Sókè’ with your vote when you are registered. We will inform you when registration opens.

Our friends at Fix Politics are calling for applications to the School of Politics, Policy, and Governance (SPPG). SPPG is an unconventional school designed to attract, develop and produce a new generation of political leaders who will listen and serve the new class of citizens who know their rights. Apply here.
