St. Judges Girls Secondary School, Amarata, Bayelsa State, Nigeria, emerged as silver medalists in 3×3 basketball at the World School Athletics Competition held in October 2024 in Bahrain. The team achieved this remarkable feat by defeating Thailand 18-6 to qualify for the final, but narrowly missed the grand prize after a close 14-16 loss to Slovenia.
The tournament, organized by the International School Sport Federation (ISF), took place from October 23 to 31, 2024, bringing together over 5,500 student-athletes from around the globe to compete in 26 different sports, including 3×3 basketball.
In the semi-finals, the Nigerian team delivered an impressive performance, defeating Thailand with a commanding score of 18–6 to advance to the final match. In a closely contested final, they faced Slovenia and narrowly missed the gold medal, concluding the game with a 14–16 loss. Their journey to the finals and the silver medal finish have been celebrated as a significant achievement for Nigerian school sports, highlighting the talent and determination of young athletes from Bayelsa State.
